New Delhi, 25 June 2013: Communication and cognitive skills training is the need of the hour to prepare fresh graduates for employment in the BPO/ ITes sector, according to a report by Aspiring Minds, an employability solutions company.

The report, a national audit of employability of 3-year Bachelor’s degree graduates, based on the Aspiring Minds Computer Adaptive Test (AMCAT) finds that only 21.37 percent of graduates are ready to take up roles in the business process outsourcing (BPO/ITeS) sector. For an analyst role, close to 84 percent of graduates were found to lack the required cognitive ability and about 90 percent needed to improve their English language communication skills.

The research indicates that focused training in these areas is imperative. The report also finds that over 40 percent of employable graduates are not from the top 30 percent colleges, offering hope to students from tier-2 and tier-3 colleges in the country.
